Argentine guitarist and songwriter Gardi Pais carries the language of rock and roll with the ease of someone who has lived inside it for decades. An Argentine musician based in Miami, Pais has moved through different chapters of the Argentine rock scene while continuing to build his own catalog around guitars, blues, groove, and the raw simplicity of a band playing together. With Los Gardis at Realm26, there is little interest in polishing away the edges. “It Is Hard” lands with weight and grit, “Call Blues” settles deep into the pocket, and “Marihuana Blues” leans fully into the looseness and attitude of the blues tradition. It is rock and roll at its most elemental—amplifiers, rhythm, instinct, and musicians responding to one another in real time.
